Tooth and claw...

At Willsbridge on Tuesday 17th May I saw this male beautiful demoiselle (calopteryx virgo) almost leisurely fly up from its perch in the wildlife garden and pluck an unfortunate mint moth (pyrausta aurata) from the air. It swiftly devoured it leaving a tiny and rather forlorn pair of wings behind. Watch out for these aptly named beautiful insects in the valley through until late July.
